Linoleic Acid (Omega-6, C18:2): One Fatty Acid, Two Very Different Markets

A buyer’s first lesson in this material is terminological: always specify Linoleic Acid (C18:2) in full, because the bare abbreviation “LA” collides in trade with lauric acid — a completely different fatty acid.

Two markets, one molecule

Distilled from sunflower, safflower and soy oils, linoleic acid serves two worlds. With appropriate food-grade documentation, it enters nutraceutical and functional-food formulations as the essential omega-6 fatty acid. In industrial duty, its two reactive double bonds drive alkyd resins and drying-oil coatings, soaps and surfactants, emollient ester manufacture and animal nutrition.

Handle with care

Those same double bonds make linoleic acid oxidation-sensitive. High-assay material ships in nitrogen-blanketed drums, and quality is bought on C18:2 assay, peroxide value, acid value and colour — all certified lot-wise by SIPL.

Supply from India

Shezle Imperio Private Limited delivers in 200 kg drums and IBC totes to buyers across Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bangalore and Hyderabad, exporting to the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa and Europe with market-appropriate documentation.
