Every mud engineer learns it early: salt kills polymers. Seawater, KCl brines and saturated salt systems collapse ordinary viscosifiers, strip filter cakes and turn a stable mud into an expensive problem. Polyanionic Cellulose — PAC — was engineered as the answer: a higher-substitution, higher-purity cousin of CMC whose anionic charge density keeps it hydrated, viscous and film-forming exactly where lesser polymers surrender. Six grades — because systems differ
